Johnny Depp: Actor is honored for his career

At this year’s Rome Film Festival, Johnny Depp will be honored with an award for his career.

Johnny Depp (61) will be honored with an award for his career at the Rome Film Festival. His new film “Modi” about three important days in the life of the Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani (1884-1920) will also be shown there. The film will celebrate its premiere at the San Sebastián Film Festival in the next few days.

With “Modi,” Depp returns behind the camera for the first time since his directorial debut “The Brave” in 1997, which was not particularly well received by critics. “Modi” is also one of the actor’s first projects since his legal battle with his ex-wife Amber Heard (38) in 2022. Depp celebrated his festival comeback last year in Cannes with a leading role in “Jeanne du Barry.”

Modigliani: Notorious bad boy of the art scene

“Modi” tells the story of the Italian painter Amedeo Modigliani, who was known as the bad boy of the art scene and became famous with the modern style of his portraits and nudes. The drama is set in Paris during the First World War and tells of 72 turbulent hours “that would become a turning point in his life and ultimately cement his reputation as an artistic legend,” as the synopsis states.

The leading role in the film was played by Italian Riccardo Scamarcio (44), with Hollywood star Al Pacino (84), Stephen Graham (51), Bruno Gouery (49) and Sally Phillips (54) also appearing in other roles.

The film will be shown out of competition at the 19th Rome Film Festival, which runs from October 16 to 27.
