What I Know What You Did Last Summer is about
The original film follows four young friends (played by Prinze Jr., Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Ryan Phillippe) brought together by a tragic accident and reunited when they are stalked by a hook-wielding maniac in their small coastal town.
I Know What You Did Last Summer, loosely based on the Lois Duncan novel of the same name, was a success that led to the development of the sequel I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, which was released in 1998. A third direct-to-video installment in the franchise titled I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer (2006) is considered a standalone sequel as the story departed from the first two installments and did not feature an original cast reprising their roles.
In 2021, Prime Video premiered the television series I Know What You Did Last Summer of Sara Goodman based on Duncan’s novel produced by Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television. The series, which lasted one season, starred Madison Iseman, Bill Heck, and Brianne Tjuamong others.
