Music: Musical “Cats” returns to Germany in 2025

After purring and singing in Dresden in 2022, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s cats will be performing in Düsseldorf, Munich, Frankfurt, Berlin and Zurich in 2025.

Glowing eyes, purring, hissing, moonlight and a junkyard: Since Tuesday, tickets for the tour of the Webber musical “Cats” with stops in Düsseldorf, Munich, Frankfurt and Berlin next year have been on presale.

“From April 2025, the classic can be experienced again in its original English version – in the authentic and refreshed successful production from London’s West End, which was nominated for the Laurence Olivier Award as “Best Musical Revival” in 2015,” says the live entertainment company ATG Touring in Mannheim.

The version was already seen in Germany in the summer of 2022 – but at that time only in Dresden – in the Semperoper.

“Cats” by Andrew Lloyd Webber premiered in 1981 and is considered a revolution in the musical world. Some of the melodies in the piece are hits, including “Memory” (Moonlight).

The costumes and the story inspire many, but some also feel embarrassed. Hardly any other musical is as controversial.

According to the organizer, the “most famous cats in the world” have broken all records and enchanted more than 73 million viewers in over 30 countries.

The dates of the guest performances in German-speaking countries are April 9 to June 8 in Düsseldorf and then in June in Munich (June 11 to 22), then Frankfurt am Main (June 25 to July 6), then Berlin (August 21 to September 7) and finally Zurich (September 10 to 21).
