Crazy Town frontman Shifty Shellshock: Investigations into cause of death completed

In June, Shifty Shellshock died at the age of 49. Three months later, investigations into the cause of his death have been completed.

The Los Angeles County coroner has released their findings on the sudden death of Shifty Shellshock (1974-2024). The frontman of the band Crazy Town, whose real name was Seth Binzer, was found dead in his house in Los Angeles on June 24, 2024. He was only 49 years old.

In the meantime, the authorities announced that the singer died from the combined effects of “fentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine.” “The cause of death is an accident,” said the medical examiner.

Manager already spoke of an overdose

A few days after the musician’s death, the band’s manager Howie Hubberman got in touch. “The cause of death was a combination of prescription drugs and drugs bought on the street,” said Hubberman. The exact substances involved had not yet been confirmed at the time.

Shifty Shellshock struggled with serious addiction issues throughout his life and has repeatedly addressed these publicly on shows such as “Celebrity Rehab” and “Sober House.” “After Seth Binzer struggled with his addiction and Crazy Town rose to fame with ‘Butterfly,’ he was never able to deal with his addictions on a more successful level,” said Hubberman. “We all tried, but ultimately we all failed, otherwise Shifty would still be here.”

Shifty Shellshock founded the predecessor band of Crazy Town in 1992 with his best friend Epic Mazur (54). In 2000 they landed a worldwide hit with “Butterfly”, which was to remain the group’s only number one.
