Many people know him as the son of a Beatles, but Dhani Harrison has long since gone his own musical way. Now the versatile musician is releasing a concert film – and performing in Berlin.
Dhani Harrison was celebrated in the British and American music press for his album “Innerstanding”. Now the musician and composer has released a concert film about it. “Innersoundstage” was filmed in London without an audience and showcases Harrison’s musical versatility. The film can be seen now on Harrison’s YouTube channel and will be released as video-on-demand from October 1st.
Only Germany concert in Berlin
To mark the premiere, Dhani Harrison will give three concerts in Europe. Before playing in Paris and London, he will perform in Berlin at Hole 44 on October 13th. “I love Berlin,” he told the German Press Agency. “A lot of our friends that we’ve worked with for a long time live there. I also performed there at Lollapalooza. It was crazy and the crowd was just incredible. All in all we had a lot of fun.”
The 46-year-old is not only known to Beatles fans, especially as the son of George Harrison, especially since his voice has a similar timbre. But Dhani Harrison has long since found his own style and is always trying out new things. In the film “Innersoundstage”, which was recorded in London, he presents an atmospheric mix of rock, pop and electro with strong melodies.
More musical experiments planned
After the two-time Grammy winner has experimented with numerous genres, Harrison would like to try something completely different. “I think definitely something like a mixtape collaboration in electronics, drum and bass or hip-hop, something really hard,” he said, revealing that he would like to work with The Prodigy.
The composer and musician could also imagine standing on the other side of the recording desk. “I’ve had the chance to work with RZA and Wu-Tang, but maybe I could produce something where I’m not the artist but just a producer, maybe in hip-hop.”
