The owner of the R&D&I Agency that promotes the Science and Technology in our country, Alicia Caballero He left his position this Monday. The now former official attributed the decision to personal issues. This is a second resignation in just days, after the departure of the Minister of Health, Mario Russo.

His departure occurs in the middle of an open discussion with the scientific community for the cuts in the budget items for him 2025, added to adjustment and the delay in current disbursements throughout this year. At the end of August, Caballero held a meeting with university representatives to whom he informed that there would be no state support for new scientific projects.

Avendaño has worked closely with international organizations such as the World Bank, he Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Development Bank of Latin America (CAF), entities that are in direct relationship with the R&D&i Agency, through the financing of scientific-technological projects.

The future head of the agency has a Master’s Degree in Economics with a focus on Economic Analysis from the same institution, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the Argentine Catholic University. He also completed a doctorate in Economics from the CEMA University.

With his arrival at the agency, he will have the task of promoting science and technology in a context of strong adjustment by the Government.
