Tony Bennett was one of the USA’s star musicians. The jazz legend died in July 2023 at the age of 96. Soon, souvenirs of the singer will go under the hammer. Lady Gaga also contributes something.
Music trophies, jewelry, paintings, sketches: More than 350 souvenirs of jazz legend Tony Bennett, who died last year, are to be auctioned in Los Angeles. The auction is scheduled for October 29th, auction house Julien’s announced. Among the pieces is a valuable Tiffany necklace, a gift from Bennett to his wife Susan, which could fetch up to $15,000. A gold Rolex wristwatch was previously valued at $6,000.
Numerous paintings and drawings by the hobby artist Bennett will also be auctioned. A sketch the singer made of Lady Gaga was lovingly dedicated by the singer as a thank you letter to Bennett. “Thank you for believing in me. With love, Lady Gaga,” she writes, among other things.
The two Grammy-winning industry giants often expressed their admiration and affection for each other. In 2011, Bennett recorded the swing track “The Lady Is A Tramp” with Lady Gaga for his album “Duets II”. In 2021, the two stars released their second album together, “Love for Sale,” after “Cheek to Cheek” (2014).
The memorabilia collection also includes a letter signed by singer Frank Sinatra and a sheet music from a duet by Bennett and Stevie Wonder, signed by Wonder with the phrase “My love is with you, Stevie.”
Bennett became known worldwide with songs like “I Left My Heart In San Francisco”. The musician released more than 70 albums, which earned him numerous Grammys. He died in July 2023 in New York at the age of 96.
