Oscar winner Halle Berry (58) has taken a sensitive dig at her ex-husband, musician Eric Benét (57). by Dax Shepard (49), Berry said on Monday (October 7th): “I had a husband who said he was a sex addict, but I don’t believe that shit.”
Alleged sex addiction as a reason for cheating?
Although the well-known actress did not mention Benét’s name during her remarks, it was reported worldwide in 2002 that the now 57-year-old had sought treatment for alleged sex addiction. He was still married to Berry at the time. The couple tied the knot in 2001.
But a short time later, the star of films like “X-Men” and “Monster’s Ball” learned that Benét had been unfaithful during their marriage. After the cheating allegations, he went to a rehab clinic to get treatment for his alleged sex addiction. The couple finally separated in 2003.
“Eric and I have been having marital problems for some time and have been trying to work things out together,” Berry explained at the time. And further: “At the moment, however, we feel that we need a break to reassess our relationship.”
Benét himself publicly claimed after the breakup that he was not struggling with sex addiction. “I’m not a sex addict,” he said in 2004. “I’m a human being who, through a series of emotional events, problems and challenges, has made some really, really stupid, painful mistakes.”
The musician married Manuela Testolini (48), the ex-wife of music legend Prince (1958-2016), in 2011. The couple shares two children. Halle Berry has been dating musician Van Hunt (54) since 2020. “This is the longest relationship I’ve ever had in my life,” she confessed during her appearance on the “Armchair Expert” podcast.
