Nicholas Pryor: “Beverly Hills, 90210” star has died

He starred in “Beverly Hills, 92010” and many other well-known series: Nicholas Pryor shaped the TV landscape as a supporting actor.

The American actor Nicholas Pryor (1935-2024) is dead. He appeared in more than 180 films and series – including cult productions such as “Beverly Hills, 90210”, “Our Little Farm”, “The Denver Clan”, “Dallas ” and “Murder is her hobby”.

Pryor died of cancer on Monday (October 7) at his home in Wilmington, North Carolina, his wife, actress Christine Belford (75), told The Hollywood Reporter. He was 89 years old.

From theater to TV

The busy actor was born Nicholas David Probst on January 28, 1935 in Baltimore. He discovered his passion at a young age and took part in various theaters at an early age. After graduating from college in 1956, he appeared in four Broadway plays from 1957 to 1959. His first engagements in soap operas were in “The Brighter Day” in 1958 and “Young Dr. Malone” in 1959.

He has played countless TV supporting roles. Between 1994 and 1997 he played the chancellor of California University, A. Milton Arnold, in “Beverly Hills, 90210”. You can also recognize his face from the big screen: in the 1983 comedy “Loose Business” he played the father of Tom Cruise (62), and in the drama “Unter Null” (1987) he played the father of Robert Downey Jr. (59). He also had a small role in “The Hunger Games – Mockingjay Part 1” (2014).

Nicholas Pryor was married to Christine Belford, with whom he worked on “Beverly Hills, 90210”, for the fourth time since 1993. He is also survived by his daughter Stacey and two grandchildren.
