The hour-long gangster drama series is a production of Showtime, MTV Studios and 101 Studios. As Variety reported in February, Bennett is writing the entire series and Ritchie will direct it. Both are also executive producers, along with David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, David Hutkin and Ivan Atkinson.

The project had initially been developed under the title “The Donovans,” with plans to function as a spin-off of the Showtime series. Ray Donovanwhich was starred by Liev Schreiber for seven seasons and a film adaptation. However, it has been reworked as a standalone series with no connections to that franchise.
Bennett is the creator of the British police series Top Boy and has written novels like The Catastrophist, Overthrown by Strangers and Havoc, in Its Third Yearas well as the script for the film Michael Mann Public Enemies. He also produced and wrote the upcoming adaptation of the Sky and Peacock series The Day of the Jackalstarring Eddie Redmayne and Lashana Lynch.
