Singer Olivia Rodrigo took the opportunity to meet a special TikTok star in Melbourne: the king penguin chick Pesto.
US singer and actress Olivia Rodrigo (21) is currently stopping in Melbourne, Australia for her “Guts” world tour. The musician didn’t miss the opportunity to meet a real TikTok star in the city. She visited the Sea Life Melbourne Aquarium, which is Pesto’s home.
“Superfan” comes to visit
The giant baby penguin has become a social media star thanks to its unusual size and fluffy body that weighs over 20 kilograms. Pesto, who towers over all of his king penguin colleagues, was now happy about the celebrity visit in the snow.
Rodrigo captured the encounter in a clip. Wearing protective goggles and a warm outfit, she admired the penguin up close. “Thanks for the visit, Olivia,” the aquarium captioned the video. “Pesto loved meeting another superfan. Good luck with the rest of the Melbourne shows!” Rodrigo waves enthusiastically into the camera, while Pesto doesn’t let the shots bother him.
“At just nine months old, Pesto weighs in at a whopping 21kg,” says the Sea Life Melbourne website. “Thanks to his huge appetite of 25 fish a day. This officially makes him the biggest chick we’ve ever had, making him a huge hit with guests and fans around the world. From the tender moments with his parents Hudson and Tango to his adorable waddles into the colony – Pesto is a real crowd pleaser.” The combination of “good genes and good parents” explains his current weight, which will, however, be reduced if he loses his fluffy feathers.
For Olivia Rodrigo the dates are October 13th and 14th. Afterwards, we’ll be heading to Sydney for four more concerts from October 17th.
