For film about professional boxer: Sydney Sweeney undergoes type change

Sydney Sweeney surprised with her new look. She trained her biceps for a film and now has brown curls.

Type change for Sydney Sweeney (27): The actress has presented her impressive biceps, which she developed for a biopic. She also swapped her blonde hair for brown curls with bangs to do justice to her role as boxer Christy Martin (56). She made the photos public after paparazzi spotted them.

Sydney Sweeney: “Story of an Incredible Woman”

“Over the past few months I have been training intensively to bring the story of an incredible woman to life,” Sweeney revealed in a message. She described her film character as “a true champion who fought battles both inside and outside the ring.” She feels honored to be able to portray the American former professional boxer and called her career a “testament to resilience, strength and hope.” She promised her followers: “More on this soon.”

recently reported about Sweeney’s commitment to the film by director David Michôd (51, “Kingdom of Crime”). The actress brings several years of martial arts experience to the set. “I grappled and did kickboxing between the ages of twelve and 19. I was excited to get back in the ring, train and change my body,” she told the magazine. She enjoys the challenge of retelling Martin’s “physically and mentally” stressful life story.

Martin fought for her life

The former athlete was active in boxing from 1989 to 2012. During her career she won 49 times and was inducted into the International Boxing Hall Of Fame in 2020. Ten years earlier, she survived a murder attempt by her ex-husband and manager James Martin. She had previously told him about her homosexuality. His abuse also led her to drug addiction and suicidal thoughts.

According to Deadline, filming on the biopic is scheduled to begin this fall. An official title is not yet known. The biopic is Sweeney’s next project following her roles this year in the sci-fi film “Madame Web,” the horror film “Immaculate” and the thriller “Eden.” The “Euphoria” star also has other films like “The Housemaid” and “Echo Valley” coming up. In the latter she plays alongside Julianne Moore (63).
