Paul Di’Anno, who was behind the mic on the first two albums of the legendary metal band Iron Maiden, has died after a long illness.
Paul Di’Anno, the early singer of Iron Maiden, is dead. As confirmed on behalf of his family, the lead singer of the legendary metal band’s first two albums has died at the age of 66 at his home in Salisbury, England.
Di’Anno, real name Paul Andrews, sang on both Iron Maiden’s self-titled debut album and its follow-up, “Killers.” Eventually he was replaced by Bruce Dickinson (66) due to his party excesses. The musician didn’t take his colleagues lightly when he was kicked out of Iron Maiden. “I don’t blame them for wanting to get rid of me,” .
Di’Anno then worked as a solo artist and became the frontman for the bands Battlezone and Killers.
The singer is said to have been suffering from health problems for several years. The statement from his record company Conquest Music on Facebook reads: “Although he has been plagued by serious health problems in recent years that have left him confined to a wheelchair, Paul has continued to entertain his fans around the world and has performed well over 100 concerts since 2023 .”
