US superstar Beyoncé appeared in Houston with Kamala Harris and gave an emotional speech.
After much speculation about whether she will actually appear in the US election campaign, music superstar Beyoncé (43) actually personally supported Vice President Kamala Harris (60) at a rally in Houston on Friday (October 25th).
According to US media reports, the singer was announced by her mother Tina Knowles (70). Beyoncé then stood on stage with her former Destiny’s Child bandmate, Kelly Rowland (43). Country musician Willie Nelson (91) had apparently previously performed.
“We are on the verge of a huge change,” Beyoncé said at the event. “I’m not here as a celebrity. I’m not here as a politician. I’m here as a mother, a mother who cares about the world in which our children live…” Beyoncé is also said to have said: “We are all Part of something much bigger. We have to choose and we need you.” The singer, who has daughter Blue Ivy (12) and twins Rumi and Sir (7) with her husband Jay-Z (54), then announced Kamala Harris.
Beyoncé’s song becomes an anthem for Kamala Harris
Before her performance, the singer had already given Harris’ campaign permission to use her song “Freedom.” The song has now become an anthem for the Democratic presidential candidate’s campaign.
Beyoncé is one of the numerous stars who support Kamala Harris, who is running against Donald Trump (78) in the November election. Mindy Kaling (45) and Kerry Washington (47), among others, have already given speeches for Harris, while Pink (45), Stevie Wonder (74) and John Legend (45) have performed for her.
Harris’ prominent supporters are also said to include Julia Louis-Dreyfus (63), Jennifer Lopez (55), Ben Stiller (58), Julia Roberts (56) and Meryl Streep (75). Taylor Swift (34) also spoke out publicly in support of Harris.
