Three decades after “Forrest Gump,” Tom Hanks and Robin Wright appeared together again in front of the camera and on the red carpet.
Thirty years after their joint cult film “Forrest Gump” (1994), the acting stars Tom Hanks (68) and Robin Wright (58) appeared in front of the camera together again. Her new film “Here” had its world premiere at the AFI Fest on Friday (October 25) at the TCL Chinese Theater in Hollywood.
On the red carpet, Tom Hanks and Robin Wright appeared in dark outfits that seemed to coordinate with each other. The actor opted for a classic black two-piece suit, which he teamed with a black shirt and dark shoes. His colleague shone in a pinstripe pants suit with a white blouse and black tie. She also wore pointed black pumps.
“Forrest Gump” director brings his stars back
It is thanks to “Forrest Gump” director Robert Zemeckis (72) that Tom Hanks and Robin Wright found each other again professionally. His new film “Here” is based on the graphic novel of the same name by Richard McGuire (67) and has a premise that is as simple as it is impressive: The story covers the events of a single piece of earth and its inhabitants, from the past to far into the future. The main plot in the original takes place between the years 1902 and 2029.
With Hanks, Wright and Zemeckis, the “Forrest Gump” reunion on “Here” is not yet complete. The adapted script for “Here” comes from Eric Roth (79) – who also received the Oscar in 1995 for his script for Gump’s unusual hero’s journey. Other roles in “Here” include Marvel star Paul Bettany (53) and “Yellowstone” actress Kelly Reilly (47). The film opens in cinemas in the USA in November.
“Forrest Gump” was nominated for a total of 13 Oscars and won six awards, including Golden Boy for Best Picture, Best Director for Zemeckis and Best Actor for Hanks.
