The statement issued by the Secretary of Transportation and the Regulatory Body of the National Airport System (Orsna) – who approved the measure – recites: ”This measure, which comes into force as of November 1, in line with the work being carried out by the Transportation Secretariat of the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Deregulation and Transformation of the State, marks the end of the monopoly that Aerolíneas Argentinas had maintained, allowing access to the overnight stay of aircraft from other companies.
”Aerolíneas Argentinas had the majority of the positions in Aeroparque, which It prevented other companies from being able to establish and operate equitably. In recent years, a great distortion was generated in the aeronautical sector, since Aerolíneas Argentinas was favored by handing over all the positions, thus harming the rest of the companies and, therefore, the development and competitiveness of the sector,” they added. .
Furthermore, they highlighted that with ”the new assignment of positions, this dynamic is broken, allowing JetSmart and Flybondi to spend the night at the airport”. In this way, they ensure “direct and efficient access to morning air transportation, one of the services most in demand by users.”
Likewise, they detailed that Aerolíneas Argentinas will have 31 positions, while both JetSmart and Flybondi will have six eachwith the aim of promoting ”a more equitable use of available resources”.
”This decision optimizes the use of the airport’s commercial platform, guaranteeing equal conditions between airlines and promoting competition. In addition, it seeks to improve the quality of the services offered to users, ensuring efficiency for airlines, greater use of airport infrastructure and improvements in operation,” they added.
Finally, they assured that with the measure they continue ”moving towards a framework of deregulation and openness that respects the freedoms of users, allowing the air market to develop in a fair and competitive manner”.

On the occasion, a majority opinion was signed supported by the LLA, Civic Coalition (CC), PRO, the Integration and Development Movement (MID) of Óscar Zago and the UCR, another minority opinion proposed by Encuentro Federal (EF) and grouped dissident radicals in Democracy Forever, and a third from Unión por la Patria (UP) in rejection of privatization.
