After Donald Trump’s unexpectedly clear victory in the US election, Vice President Kamala Harris contacted Trump.
After her defeat in the US election, Kamala Harris (60) is now said to have contacted her opponent Donald Trump (78). Like a senior Harris aide, the vice president reportedly called the president-elect to congratulate him on his victory.
Harris hopes for a peaceful transition of power
She reportedly stressed the importance of a peaceful transfer of power between governments. She is also said to have spoken of her hope that Trump could be a president for all Americans.
It is the first sign of life from Kamala Harris after her surprisingly clear defeat. The Democratic presidential candidate canceled her election night party at Howard University early and told her supporters that she would not speak to them until Wednesday.

Shortly afterwards, US President Joe Biden (81) also congratulated Trump on his victory. In his phone call, he is said to have reminded his successor how important it was to “bring the country together.” He also invited him to a meeting at the White House and assured that he would ensure a smooth transition.
