The third season of “The Big Celebrity Penance” starts this Thursday (November 7th) on Joyn. Olivia Jones (54) once again invites you to the “Round of Shame” and the prominent camp residents look back on their shameful deeds. This time there is an explosive father-son duo: Thorsten Legat (56) and Nico Legat (26) reveal in an interview with the news agency spot on news how they came to participate together and what their relationship is like after public arguments . Nico Legat also explains why he sees himself as a “Red Flag” and how he took his father’s criticism.
Why did you decide to take part in “Celebrity Penance” together?
Nico Legat: I mainly took part in “The Big Celebrity Penance” because I was unfaithful to my ex-girlfriend in the past. I wasn’t honest and acted disloyal to her. I think there were other reasons for my participation. Many people have the impression that I have a problem with alcohol and partying, and I wanted to take responsibility for that too. My goal was to improve my reputation and show people that they can meet another Nico Legat.
Thorsten Legat: That had nothing to do with Nico, I just wanted to find out more about the format. I took part in The Big Celebrity Penance to prove myself in a different way. I wanted to show a completely different image of myself than in previous years. Instead of appearing loud, direct and consistent, I wanted to take a step back here. I had planned to observe, mediate and mediate situations.
What is special about the show and what were your biggest concerns before moving into camp?
Nico: I see myself as a “red flag” on German television. I’ve made some mistakes in the past that have given me a certain image. There are only a few people who have left such an impression, and that’s exactly why “The Big Celebrity Penance” was the right choice for me. I actually have the greatest respect for this platform. The biggest challenge for me was that my father was also there. I had the most respect for that.
Thorsten: This is the only platform where you can prove yourself in a natural way and show a different face. I didn’t really have any worries before I moved into the camp. However, I am of an advanced age, which means that I don’t put up with everything. I want to show the others that there are people in the camp who represent positive values. We live in the 21st century, where everything is often served to you without having to do anything. This should make everyone think about how important it is to work on your own character and your future.
What are the disadvantages and advantages of participating together?
Nico: The biggest disadvantages in the camp were definitely the many discussions that took place. Still, I feel like we worked well together as a team.
Thorsten: I didn’t actually see any advantages from participating together, but the communication problems really annoyed me.
Thorsten, did your wife agree to take part and what did she tell you before the camp?
Thorsten: Of course my wife agreed to my participation, and she also gave me the task of looking after Nico so that he didn’t do any nonsense.
During “celebrity penance” one’s own shameful deeds are dealt with. Nico, how do you look at your appearances on “Temptation Island” and “Prominent Separate” today?
Nico: That’s exactly why I took part in “The Big Celebrity Penance”. I really regret the cheating and binge drinking because one led to the other.
Thorsten, you briefly publicly distanced yourself from your son because of his behavior on TV. Do you regret that?
Thorsten: I don’t regret having publicly distanced myself from him for a short time because of my son’s behavior on television.
Nico, how did you perceive your father’s behavior and his statements about you, including “He behaves like a fool”, and how do you feel about it today?
Nico: That was painful, but unfortunately it can’t be changed. That’s why it was said to repent.
What is the relationship like between you today and to what extent are you working on your relationship?
Nico: Some things have been resolved and we are making progress.
Thorsten: After all, we are a family. However, we still have a strained relationship.
After “Celebrity Penances”: Which TV shows would you still like to take part in and why?
Thorsten: I have a particular interest in the following formats: “Forsthaus Rampensau”, “Big Brother”, “Couple Challenge” and “Celebrities under Palms”. I think the formats are particularly great and with “Couple Challenge” I already know who I’m taking with me.
Nico: I would be particularly interested in these formats: “IbeS”, “Big Brother”, “KdR”, “Germany Shore” and “Let’s Dance”. These are the shows I would like to see myself on.
