With the same trend as Argentina, the last three months have shown growth in the sector automotive in Chili.
It is a good sign for Argentine automobile manufacturers since several models produced in the country are exported from the other side of the Cordillera.
According to data from the National Automotive Association of Chile (ANAC), October was positioned as the second month of the year with the most new light and medium vehicles sold, reaching a total of 27,629 units registered, only behind August.
This recovery occurred. mainly due to the growing supply existing in all segments of the sector, to the renewal of models that have been launched this year, and also to the attractive promotions and commercial strategies that are current in the market
Despite these recent good results, the accumulated outlook for This 2024 does not have positive numbers and registers a decrease of 4.5% compared to the same period in 2023 and has placed 249,302 units.
The Chilean automotive market is one of the most varied in the world, where standing out among the best-selling brands is an important milestone.
In the top ten there are manufacturers of different origins: three Japanese, two Americans, two Koreans, two Chinese and one French.
Toyota remains the undisputed leader in the annual cumulative figures, the Japanese company records 19,144 patents, which means a market share of 7.7%. Among the most demanded models is the Hilux pickup that is produced in Argentina.
However, in this report there is a big surprise since Hyundai – the South Korean company – for the first time this year is in second place after marketing 16,867 units (6.8%) and left Chevrolet (a brand that throughout the year it was in second place) with 16,670 placements (6.7%).
Currently, the Chilean automotive market has 78 brands, and it is expected that this number will exceed 80 by the end of the year. In addition, there are already around 1,712 models available, which represents an increase of almost 4% compared to last year.
The general secretary of the ANAC, Diego MendozaHe said: “In October, the automotive sector recorded four consecutive months of growth. In fact, this last month, the growth was greater than 10%, which is the highest recorded in the last four months. It is also the second month this year in which more than 27 thousand units have been sold, which gives a good sign in a general context of zero growth in our country.”
