November 8, 2024 – 12:15

This date is very important to continue promoting the rights of all people. Find out why it is celebrated today.

Days before the pride march in Argentina, the November 8th marks Intersexuality Solidarity Day. It is said intersex to those who are born with bodies that do not fit anatomically into the sexual patterns of the male/female binary system. These characteristics may be variations in sex chromosomes, internal reproductive organs, or external genitalia, and do not necessarily correspond to the typical traits associated with the sex assigned at birth.

It is important to emphasize that intersexuality is not a disease or a dysfunction; it is simply a natural variation in human biology. Furthermore, intersex people have the right to decide about their body and gender identity, without being pressured to conform to social norms.

In many cases, medical decisions about intervention in intersex bodies were very controversialsince unfortunately they are carried out without the informed consent of the affected person and with the intention of normalizing the genitals or sexual traits. That is why, in part, this day was created to commemorate and raise awareness about different bodies and different realities.
