Record quota with Chancellor Olaf Scholz

Caren Miosga only had one guest on her talk show of the same name on Sunday: Chancellor Olaf Scholz. That ensured top ratings.
The break in the traffic light government and the question of the future concerns many people in Germany. Since Wednesday evening, talk shows have been eagerly discussing the background, the culprits and what will happen next. Caren Miosga (55) welcomed Chancellor Olaf Scholz (66) in her broadcast on November 10th after the “crime scene” – and more viewers tuned in than ever before.
Lots of young viewers too
From 9:45 p.m., according to AGF video research, an average of 4.68 million people watched the interview on Erste, in which the SPD man had to answer some critical questions. The market share was therefore 21 percent. As the media magazine “DWDL” reported, this is a record for “Caren Miosga”. The format has never reached as many viewers as the most recent broadcast. Around 1.3 million more people tuned in than last week. The market share among the young audience was also unusually high at 20.4 percent.
The focus of the evening was the question of what happens now – and when the vote of confidence and new elections will come. The Chancellor emphasized that he was ready to ask the vote of confidence before Christmas in December. This is “no problem at all” for him. He wants new elections at the earliest possible date. He did not “stage the expulsion of FDP Finance Minister Christian Lindner (45) as a poker game” and did not want to tie the new election to negotiations on legislative proposals.
“Nobody always does everything right”
Caren Miosga also wanted to know why his SPD colleagues had greeted him with applause after Lindner was fired. This scene had previously been criticized a lot – for example by “Markus Lanz” (ZDF). The moderator (55) was surprised why there was a celebration on such an evening. In a conversation with Miosga, Scholz emphasized that he did not take the applause as a celebration, but rather as approval.
The 55-year-old also probed him about his complicity in the failure of the governing coalition. “Nobody always does everything right,” admitted Scholz, but emphasized that he always tried to reach agreements. “It was often beyond the limits of what was reasonable. It was enough for me, and for the citizens too.” “For the sake of compromise and cooperation,” he repeatedly “put a good face on a pretty bad game.”
Victory of the day for the “crime scene”
Of course, “Caren Miosga’s” best ratings do not come close to the formats that ran before her on the first: “Tatort” – this time with the episode “Borowski and the Eternal Sea” – won the day as usual. 7.95 million viewers tuned in. The “Tagesschau” was seen by 7.64 million.
