Ten days after the death of Quincy Jones, according to a US media report, it is now clear why the legendary musician died.
On November 3rd, Quincy Jones (1933-2024) died at his home in Los Angeles at the age of 91. Ten days later it was announced that, according to a media report, the musician did not die of natural causes but succumbed to cancer. The death certificate, which was issued and is available from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, lists pancreatic cancer as the official cause of death.
Jones’ cancer was not known to the public. His press spokesman said in a statement that he fell asleep surrounded by his loved ones. “While this is an incredible loss for our family, we celebrate the great life he lived – knowing that there will never be anyone like him again,” it said.
Music world mourns Quincy Jones
Numerous big names then spoke out about the death of the star producer and mourned him publicly. Among others, Elton John (77) raved about Jones’ “incredible career”, Lionel Richie (75) spoke of an “incredible ride”, and Dr. Dre, 59, said he was “forever inspired by the incomparable Quincy Jones.”
Quincy Jones has had an incredible impact on the music world over the past few decades. As a producer, musician and arranger, he shaped numerous genres and worked with greats such as Michael Jackson (1958-2009), Frank Sinatra (1915-1998) and Aretha Franklin (1942-2018). His productions, including the iconic album “Thriller”, are among the best-selling works in music history.
