A film adaptation of Madonna’s eventful life has been planned for years. Now the singer is letting her fans vote on the format.
It was already announced in 2020 that the US singer Madonna (66) wanted to bring her life to the big screen as a film. Rumors soon arose that Hollywood star Julia Garner (30) could portray the pop icon in the project. In 2023 it was announced that the project had been put on hold for the time being and that Madonna would instead go on an extensive world tour. After the end of their tour in April of this year, things finally seem to be moving again.
Outrage against ignorant film producers
the singer posted a current status report on the film project on Monday (November 18th). In it she writes: “After days of toiling in LA, listening to producers and agents tell me why I can’t make my film (which I’ve been working on for four years!!!) – scale down, reduce, think smaller they say – I realized that everything in my life will be a challenge.”
“I didn’t have a normal life”
This challenge forces them to “think outside the box” and also think about unusual solutions. Conversations with creative people around her are now exactly the “fuel” she needs to move forward with the project. “I didn’t have a normal life,” said the singer. “I can’t do this the normal way.”
During their discussions it became clear “that we have to be even more fearless.” Therefore, “shrinking” her breathtaking career because of some concerns would be out of the question for her. That’s why she wanted to get her fans’ opinions on a new idea that she had now come up with. “Should I make the story of my life a series or a feature film?” she asks the large group in the post. And added warningly: “Think before you answer!”
