Numerous artists are honored for their music at the “1Live Krone”. The beat steaks even receive a special crown.
The band Beatsteaks is honored with a special award. , the Berlin artists will receive a special “1Live Krone” prize. The background to the recognition is twelve concerts that the Beatsteaks played in the spring of this year:
The punk band performed in selected youth centers in East Germany to strengthen local youth culture and speak out against growing populism and right-wing extremism. “The tour encountered headwinds in many places, sometimes even with threats of physical violence from right-wing groups that aimed to intimidate the visitors,” the statement said.
The Beatsteaks now seem all the more grateful for the recognition. “Thank you very much for the appreciation shown to us by this award. This is not a given at a time when right-wing radical agitation and racism seem to be socially acceptable again in Germany. […] We see this award as an invitation to imitate: Come together!” said the band members in a joint statement.
When does the award ceremony take place?
On December 5th, the group will accept the special prize as part of the “1Live Krone”. The show starts at 8:15 p.m. Fans can follow this live on WDR television, in the stream on 1live.de, on the radio at 1Live and in the ARD media library. The award will also be available on the portal for 30 days.
