Eric and Edith Stehfest clarify: There was never a separation

Eric (35) and Edith Stehfest (29) defied recent separation rumors with a joint appearance on the MDR show “Riverboat”. The couple appeared very close to each other on Friday evening (November 22nd) in a conversation with presenter Kim Fisher (55) and immediately made it clear in the person of Eric Stehfest: “So: We are not separated. To make that clear.”

His wife then described how these false allegations came about – and sharply criticized the German media’s reporting. “Only the part was taken that says: Edith Stehfest has moved out, so they must be separated.” In her opinion, it would have been much more important to report on her husband’s illness and its effects. Eric Stehfest revealed last October that he was being treated for paranoid schizophrenia.

It is true that his wife had moved out – Eric Stehfest also explained this to him at the end of October with the words “She needed some distance.” But this step didn’t mean separation, but the exact opposite, as Edith Stehfest now revealed: “What it was supposed to be about was completely swept under the carpet. We’re somehow rocking through it, holding on and having our children.”

The former “Good Times, Bad Times” actor is seeking treatment for the first time for paranoid schizophrenia, which he has suffered from since his youth. The actor, who made a drug confession in his 2017 book “9 Days Awake,” explains that he has paranoid delusions: “Only with my children is there a reality and it is full of unconditional love. Otherwise, I consist of three Erics and everyone is alive in different realities.”

Why did he wait so long to get help? “I thought: I’m sure everyone has that. It took a lot of energy and ultimately jeopardized my marriage.”
