As a society columnist for “Bunte,” Marie Waldburg met the rich and beautiful for 17 years. Between the Rolling Stones basement and the royal wedding, it was never boring.
During his time as prince, King Charles lifted his car out of the snow in Klosters, Switzerland, with his bodyguards. What was going on there?
That was unbelievable because I was supposed to be looking for him for a newspaper. After the last ski run, I drove my old VW Beetle into a pile of snow and got stuck. Suddenly Prince Charles appeared in front of my windshield. I thought at first I was having a fever dream, but it actually was and asked if he could help me. His bodyguards then pulled my car out of the snow and everyone had a great time. Later I met him several times in Bayreuth and Salzburg and was amazed by his humor and understanding of music.
