Bill Clinton attended a Taylor Swift concert over the weekend – and is now a big fan. He now understands the hype.
Bill Clinton (78) is a Swiftie. Moderator Kelly Ripa (54) elicited this private confession from the former US President. The 78-year-old expressed his admiration for Taylor Swift, 34, after attending a concert on her “The Eras” tour in Toronto, Canada.
He went into detail on the talk show “Live with Kelly and Mark.” “I did it, I did it,” he confessed as a video played showing him in a VIP box at Rogers Center as Swift performed her hit “You Belong with Me.” . He was there with his wife Hillary (77), their daughter Chelsea (44), her daughter Charlotte (10) and some of their friends, he reported on the US show, which also announced his appearance.
The politician explained that it was his first time and he now understands the hype surrounding Taylor Swift: “I mean, I understand now why she has such an influence on people and why a lot of these young girls are so captivated.” The 42nd President of the United States praised the 34-year-old for how long she performed on stage.
Taylor Swift is not like the others
“She’s not like a lot of people who give concerts,” he added. “She worked for more than three hours straight. I mean, consistently! She just kept singing and singing, which I think is a very respectful thing to do to the audience,” Clinton said. He was fascinated by how many children, “especially my granddaughter,” knew the lyrics to all the songs.
Ripa then wanted to know whether he took advantage of his status as ex-president to allow his granddaughter to meet backstage. “We didn’t do it,” Clinton said – and he probably couldn’t have gotten backstage passes either, he joked.
