Singer Maite Kelly reacts to the “gag” that presenter Thomas Gottschalk made at her expense: “Unacceptable.”
Singer Maite Kelly (44) reacts with clear words to Thomas Gottschalk’s (74) “Gag” in his podcast “Die Supernasen”. A few days ago, in conversation with his colleague Mike Krüger (72), he said about his upcoming appearance in the Christmas show “The Advent Festival of 100,000 Lights” (November 30th, 8:15 p.m., the first) by Florian Silbereisen (43): “I’ll probably have to push Maite Kelly aside so that people can see me.”
In an initial reaction, Gottschalk announced on Tuesday (November 26th) that the podcast would end at the end of the year. RTL confirmed the end of the news agency spot on news.
“A gag at Maite’s expense”
Gottschalk once again reacted to the criticism with incomprehension. His statement was neither “misogynistic” nor “malicious,” he told the “Bild” newspaper on Tuesday. “But it was undoubtedly a gag that came at Maite’s expense,” he admitted. And added: “I think I’ve done enough of it on my own to be able to afford, at my age, not to let Maite get away scot-free.”
“She’s old enough to have heard the saying: ‘Whatever loves each other, teases each other,'” he tried to smooth things over. He “assured Kelly of eternal affection on several occasions,” said Gottschalk.
“Jokes at the expense of my figure”
Maite Kelly reacted promptly and explained: “Thank God my father gave me enough self-love that jokes at the expense of my figure were the least of my concerns in my life.”
But not every girl is lucky enough to have a dad like that. That’s why “such degrading sentences, actions or gestures are unacceptable,” she makes clear. “And as adults we have a duty to protect our children, brothers and sisters from this,” adds the mother of three daughters (born 2006, 2008, 2014).
After a year and a half, the last two episodes of the “Die Supernasen” podcast can be found on RTL+ on December 17th and 31st.
