After months of speculation, Ringo Starr confirmed that Barry Keoghan will play him in the next series of The Beatles that Sam Mendes will direct for Sony.

When asked by Entertainment Tonight about this possibility, the iconic drummer said: “I think he’s cool. I think he’s somewhere taking drum lessons, and I hope not too many.”
Deadline first reported plans for the quartet of Beatles films in February, and casting rumors have continued unabated since. Although it is not confirmed, it is believed that Paul Mescal is considered for the role of Paul McCartneywith Harris Dickinson to interpret John Lennon and Joseph Quinn to embody George Harrison.

Mendes’ vision for The Beatles film series is make four independent but interconnected filmsone from the point of view of each member of the band. Starr joined The Beatles in 1962, replacing their original drummer, Pete Best. His way of playing the drums shaped iconic songs like “Come Together” and “Ticket to Ride”and was also occasionally the lead vocalist on songs like “With a Little Help from My Friends”, “Yellow Submarine” and “Octopus’s Garden”the latter also written by him. The musician had a successful solo career after the group disbanded in the 1970s.
After her starring role alongside Jacob Elordi in Saltburn by Emerald Fennell, Keoghan can currently be seen starring alongside Franz Rogowski bird by Andrea Arnold, which premiered at Cannes and hit theaters via Mubi earlier this month. At the same time, the actor is filming the long-awaited film Peaky Blinders.
