BTS is considered South Korea’s most successful cultural export. Recently things became quieter around the band because the members were doing their military service. Now singer V is back with a jazzy song.
The singer V (real name: Kim Tae Hyung) of the South Korean boy band BTS released a new single on Friday. With the song “Winter Ahead”, which was created together with singer Park Hyo Shin, the baritone strikes experimental and calm tones. The accompanying video for the single was viewed over a million times on YouTube just two hours after its release.
BTS is one of the most successful pop groups in the world. The seven South Koreans, who released their debut album in 2013, have broken a number of records in recent years. They achieved five number one singles in the USA within just ten months.
In 2022, the members of BTS took a temporary break from the band after the South Koreans had to complete their mandatory military service. Singer V, the second youngest member of BTS at 28, has also been serving in the South Korean army since December 2023. The band’s comeback is not expected before summer 2025.
