The champion becomes a dad for the first time
Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen and Kelly Piquet are becoming parents. The couple happily announced this on Instagram.
Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen (27) caused a big surprise: The Red Bull driver and his partner Kelly Piquet (35) are expecting their first child together. “Mini Verstappen-Piquet on the way,” the expectant parents wrote about a black and white photo in which a small baby bump can already be seen. “We couldn’t be happier about our little miracle.”
This is Verstappen’s first child, while his partner brought their five-year-old daughter Penelope into the relationship. The girl comes from her relationship with Formula 1 driver Daniil Kvyat (30).
Max Verstappen and the daughter of former Formula 1 driver Nelson Piquet (72) have been together for four years and live largely in seclusion. The public announcement of the pregnancy was all the more surprising – a rare insight into the private life of the otherwise media-shy couple.
Great anticipation in the family
The reactions didn’t take long to arrive. McLaren driver Oscar Piastri (23) was one of the first to congratulate on the baby’s happiness. Max Verstappen’s sister Victoria Verstappen (25) also spoke up immediately: “I can’t wait,” she enthusiastically commented on the post.
The crowning conclusion to a successful year
This baby news is the perfect end to an extremely successful year for the Dutch-Belgian racing driver. Verstappen secured his fourth world championship title in Formula 1 early at the end of November and can look forward to the last race of the season in Abu Dhabi next weekend.
