Knightley: Found the “Love Actually” scene creepy

The “Love Actually” scene with a love confession on cardboard cards is now cult. However, Keira Knightley had to suppress strong discomfort while filming, as she now explains.

According to her own statements, actress Keira Knightley had to suppress her discomfort while filming the well-known “Love Actually” scene, in which her character receives a love confession on cardboard cards. “The slightly stalkerish aspect – I really remember that,” the 39-year-old told the Los Angeles Times newspaper.

In the aforementioned scene from the Christmas comedy “Love Actually”, a man confesses his feelings to his best friend’s wife at the front door without any spoken words using written cardboard. The scene with Knightley and later “The Walking Dead” star Andrew Lincoln is still often imitated today. But some also criticize that it portrays cross-border behavior as romantic.

Director Richard Curtis pointed out to her during filming that her face showed horror, Knightley said. At the time she said about her counterpart’s behavior: “But it’s pretty scary.” Then she had to do it again to change her face so he wouldn’t come across as scary.

The ensemble romance film “Love Actually” was released in cinemas in 2003 and has since become a classic. Stars such as Hugh Grant, Alan Rickman, Liam Neeson, Colin Firth and Emma Thompson as well as Claudia Schiffer and Heike Makatsch can also be seen in it. Knightley can be seen in the new thriller series “Black Doves” on Netflix.
