Christoph Maria Herbst about skiing skills and fresh air

For his new film, Christoph Maria Herbst threw himself into skiing fun – in the truest sense of the word. But that’s not why he liked his role so much.
Christoph Maria Herbst showed full commitment while filming his new film “The Nickname”. “I shoot all of my stunts myself, and I also did all of the sex scenes in the film myself,” the 58-year-old revealed to the German Press Agency. In fact, in the comedy about a turbulent family reunion in a mountain hotel in the Tyrolean Alps, Herbst falls several times while skiing. The sex thing is limited, however, because Herbst, as the know-it-all Stephan, gets on everyone’s nerves, even his own wife.
An unpleasant character trait – but not for Herbst: “In this film you are allowed to behave in ways that you actually shouldn’t or aren’t allowed to at home. There’s something liberating about that,” he noted. And how does he relax after a day of filming? “By letting in fresh air, for example. Sometimes a glass of red wine also helps.”
Autumn longs for TV roles
After many roles in films, Herbst has a longing for television again. “I think there’s a certain level of shyness that we don’t even have to ask,” he lamented. But what could speak against him? “A. busy, b. too expensive, c. definitely not in a good enough character to work with us, because you hear things like that. And fourthly: no, no, he only makes films,” he said jokingly possible prejudices. “That’s nonsense, we’re actors.”
