Archie and Lilibet on Harry and Meghan’s new Christmas card delight royal fans. Some also recognize an homage to Diana.
Prince Harry (40) and Duchess Meghan (43) have published their Christmas card this year – and may be reminiscent of Harry’s late mother, Princess Diana (1961-1997). In the photo, the couple’s children, Prince Archie (5) and Princess Lilibet (3), can be seen from behind running towards their parents. Meghan and Harry spread their arms wide.
The photo has striking parallels to a famous photo of Princess Diana from 1991. At the time, the “Queen of Hearts” was photographed on the deck of the royal yacht Britannia, arms outstretched, welcoming her sons William and Harry in Toronto.
Prince Harry: “My mother’s legacy”
The fact that the similarity of the images is no coincidence is also suggested by Harry’s long-standing commitment to his mother’s legacy. It was only in September that he emphasized at a “Halo Trust” event in New York: “I take continuing my mother’s legacy very seriously.”
In addition to the family photo, the Christmas card also shows highlights from the Sussexes’ year, including pictures from their four-day trip to Colombia in August. According to a report by royal reporter Omid Scobie, a close confidante of the couple, the Christmas greeting was published.
Children’s hair color is a topic on social media
Aside from the Diana parallel, royal fans on social media particularly reacted to the appearance of the two children, even though they can only be seen from behind. “The kids have grown up so much,” wrote one user. Many fans also noticed the two’s red hair, which they obviously inherited from their father.
Harry only revealed in October that other genes had prevailed in terms of hair structure. “Archie and Lili are blessed with their mother’s thick hair… it won’t be long before Lili can sit on her hair,” Harry said at the WellChild Awards in London, according to the British newspaper.
“Relaxed” holidays planned
The Sussexes will spend the holidays this year in their adopted home of California. As Meghan revealed in an interview with “Marie Claire”, the family values a “relaxed” celebration: “Like any other family, we spend time with a good meal, play games – sometimes someone brings a guitar.” It is particularly important to the couple that their children can experience the “magic” of the Christmas tradition.
Harry and Meghan, who stepped down from royal duties and moved to the United States in 2020, are typically tight-lipped about information about their children. There are hardly any photos of the two of them either. .
