Javier Milei announced modifications to the law. Find out which fines will not be in force.
The President of the Nation Javier Milei reported changes in the regulations of the National Traffic Law No. 24,449. Among these are some vehicles exempt from paying the Vehicle Technical Verification (VTV) and the possibility of not paying some fines when a certain time passes.
For the latter to happen, drivers must verify that the violations are within the deadlines established by each province, but also They must request the reduction of the fine as a pending payment once prescribed.

Fines not valid in December 2024
The Traffic Law establishes that the prohibition of sanctions changes depending on the severity of the fine. Drivers who have light sanctions (parking in double row, exceeding the permitted speed by 10%, not respecting traffic signs and driving on sidewalks, platforms and unauthorized areas) They will no longer be obliged to pay after two years.
Meanwhile, those who have serious offenses (ignoring the red light, refusing to provide information, driving without a license plate, driving the wrong way and not wearing a seat belt) must wait 5 years for ban.
How to process the cancellation of the fine
To carry out the process of canceling the fine, there are two options:
- In person: They must make an appointment and go to the General Directorate of the Administration of Infractions (DGAI).
- Virtual: They must enter the official DGAI website and make the query with the bot. A virtual hearing will then be held to resolve the case.
