Luigi Mangione and P. Diddy are currently the most well-known defendants in the USA. But that’s not the only thing that connects them: the two lawyers are a married couple.
The cases of P. Diddy and Luigi Mangione couldn’t be more different. On the one hand, there is the influential global star who is accused of sex trafficking, organized crime and sexual crimes. And on the other, the young man who will soon be in the dock for the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. Both cases are currently attracting a lot of attention in the USA. But that is not the only thing that connects the two processes. Because Mangione and Diddy’s defenders share a table and a bed.

Mangione is defended by attorney Karen Friedman Agnifilo. Her husband, Marc Agnifilo, is Sean “Diddy” Combs’ legal counsel.
The 26-year-old Mangione is said to have shot UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson on the street in Manhattan on December 4th. Less than two weeks later, Mangione was caught in the city of Altoona, Pennsylvania. He is expected to be arraigned in New York this week.
In Karen Friedman Agnifilo, the scion of a wealthy family has top-class legal counsel. As a former prosecutor, the lawyer knows the New York judicial landscape like no other. “She knows every hallway, every judge, every clerk in the courthouse,” a prosecutor told CNN.
Her law firm’s website states that Friedman Agnifilo specializes in particularly “complex cases” that have a “psychological component.” Most recently, some media reports speculated about the mental state of Luigi Mangione, who apparently suffered from chronic back problems and was not the only reason why he harbored great anger against the American healthcare system.
In 2021, she left the New York Attorney General’s Office and started working in her husband Marc Agnifilo’s office.
High-profile lawyer couple
He also has a complex case on the table with P. Diddy. The star lawyer is familiar with press hype; he has already defended Keith Raniere, who gained fame as the cult leader and psycho coach of the NXIVM cult. In 2019, Raniere was convicted of organized crime, sex trafficking and child pornography. Marc Agnifilo was also part of Harvey Weinstein’s defense team.
In 2017, this caused difficulties for his wife’s career. Because she had to resign from her own work as a prosecutor in the Weinstein case. The reason: a conflict of interest.
