As a pop star, Lionel Richie is still constantly touring even at the age of 75. That’s why he would rather rest than travel at Christmas.
The American pop singer Lionel Richie (“All Night Long”, “Hello”) prefers to celebrate Christmas at home with his family. “For me it’s all about the family, because that’s the anchor point,” said Richie (75) to the German Press Agency in London. At Christmas he didn’t want to travel, but rather stop and rest.
“My little idea is: When the world goes on vacation, I stay at home. And when everyone is back from vacation, then I go on vacation. Then I go out again.”
Time for reflection and gratitude for the pop star
There are simply too many people out and about during the Christmas season. “So I’m enjoying the time at home with my family – and I’m relaxing,” said Richie, describing his idea of the perfect Christmas. For him, this is a time to look back and be grateful.
“It’s about becoming aware of where you come from,” says the musician. “Nothing in life can be taken for granted. So I’m just grateful for the family and that I have the health to tackle the next phase of life. For me, this time is above all a moment of reflection.”
Germany concerts in summer 2025
A few days after Christmas, Lionel Richie is giving concerts again. Next summer the musician will be performing in Europe again and playing five concerts in Germany as part of his “Say Hello To The Hits” tour. “I’m at home on stage,” said the soul icon when announcing the tour. “I’m still here and the music is still here. And for me the greatest thing is when the fans come. That’s my ‘Hallelujah’.”
