During a visit to a retirement home, Mette-Marit let her emotions run wild and cried.
Suddenly tears roll down her cheeks: During a Christmas concert in a Norwegian retirement home, Mette-Marit (51) was emotionally moved and cried, as photos from the Norwegian magazine “Verdens Gang” show.
On December 17th, King Harald’s daughter-in-law (87) and her husband Haakon (51) attended a Christmas concert in a retirement home in Asker. The Risenga residential and care center is located in the immediate vicinity of Gut Skaugum, the residence of the Crown Prince couple. When the Norwegian Christmas carol “En stjerne skinner i natt” (“A star shines tonight”) was performed, it moved her to tears.
Was her return too soon? Norway’s Crown Princess temporarily went into hiding after the headlines surrounding her son Marius Borg Høiby (27). Mette-Marit, who suffers from chronic lung disease, took sick leave. She is currently taking medication whose side effects may interfere with her work, the palace said in an official statement in October.
Mette-Marit didn’t talk about her firstborn that day. But when asked if she was prepared for Christmas Eve, she said: “No, I haven’t done everything yet.” However, her husband added: “Yes, you did. You’ve been very hard-working.”
No police questioning for Mette-Marit
Just a few days earlier it was reported that Mette-Marit would not have to testify as a witness in the case. Prosecutor Andreas Kruszewski confirmed this to the Norwegian television station TV2. “In the opinion of the public prosecutor’s office, based on the investigations to date, there is currently no need,” explained Kruszewski.
Marius Borg Høiby is accused of physical and psychological violence against three ex-girlfriends. He is also accused of two counts of rape. Before that, the 27-year-old lived largely in seclusion and is not part of the official royal family.
