Crown Princess Victoria and her family are continuing an old pre-Christmas tradition: the royal candle-making.
Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden (47) made candles herself together with her husband, Prince Daniel (51), and their two children, Princess Estelle (12) and Prince Oscar (8). . It says: “Merry Christmas wishes from the Crown Prince family, who visited Skansen to light candles for Christmas.” Skansen is an old open-air museum in Stockholm.
In candlelight and in front of an open fireplace, the family dips long wicks attached to sticks in liquid wax and then hangs them up to dry. Also visible: Princess Estelle is enthusiastic about the scent of wax and Victoria seems very experienced. The latter isn’t really surprising when you look at the latest photo.
The black and white photo shows Queen Silvia (80) and King Carl Gustaf XVI. (78) watched a woman in traditional clothing making candles together with her daughter Victoria and little Prince Carl Philip (45) back in 1980.
Decorating the Christmas tree with the grandchildren
This is Estelle’s third pre-Christmas appointment. Just a few days ago (December 17th) she was part of another traditional event: -Estelle is the oldest – the Christmas trees in Stockholm Castle, which had previously been delivered by the Forestry University.
Estelle at the Lucia Festival
And for the annual Lucia Festival on December 13th, the royal palace published a new photo of the twelve-year-old. Estelle wears the traditional white robe with a red silk ribbon around the waist. She has a basket of cookies on her lap – including the typical light saffron pastry. The princess wears the traditional wreath of lights with white candles and red ribbons.
the royal family wishes “A nice Lucia morning from Haga”, the castle.
