The shock over the terrible attack on the Magdeburg Christmas market is deep. People in Sweden are also shocked.

Like the Danish King Frederik X (56), Carl XVI also has. Gustaf (78) from Sweden wrote to German Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier (68) after the attack on the Christmas market in Magdeburg. The letter, dated December 21, was published on Sunday.

“Our deepest condolences”

The Swedish monarch also expressed his condolences on behalf of his wife, Queen Silvia (81). He wrote in German: “The Queen and I would like to express our deepest condolences on the occasion of the tragic attack in Magdeburg on December 20th. We remember the victims and their families on this sad day for Germany.”

Queen Silvia comes from Germany. She was born in Heidelberg and completed her high school diploma in Düsseldorf in 1963. She then attended the Language and Interpreting Institute in Munich. She worked as a hostess at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich – and met her future husband.

On Saturday, a letter from Danish King Frederik X, addressed to “His Excellency Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier”, was published on social media.
