Rapper OG Maco dies at just 32 years old
Rapper OG Maco has died at just 32 years old. He had previously been taken to hospital with a gunshot wound.
Mourning for the American musician OG Maco (1992-2024). The hip-hop star, whose real name was Benedict Chiajulam Ihesiba Jr., passed away at just 32 years old, his family announced on December 27. OG Maco was hospitalized in Los Angeles on December 12 after apparently shooting himself in the head.
The long story of OG Maco’s suffering
“It is with heavy hearts that we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of our beloved Ben, known to the world as OG Maco,” the family’s statement said. The rapper became particularly popular thanks to his 2014 hit “U Guessed It”, which initially caused a sensation on social networks and also entered the US charts as a remix with musician 2 Chainz (47).
The family of the deceased continued: “His life was a testament to resilience, creativity and boundless love. Through his music, his passion and his unwavering spirit, he touched so many lives and left a lasting impression.”
According to Variety’s report, OG Maco suffered skull fractures and a broken vertebra in a near-fatal car accident in 2016. Three years later, he shared that he was battling the flesh-eating disease necrotizing fasciitis, which led to depression.
“I was treated improperly for a small rash and have been struggling with a flesh-eating disease for the past few months,” he wrote on Instagram at the time, according to Variety.
