Lucy Hale: She is celebrating three years of abstinence from alcohol

“Pretty Little Liars” star Lucy Hale (35) has something to celebrate: The actress has been living without alcohol for three years. Hale shared the milestone with her almost 24 million followers on Thursday (January 2nd). “Damn. Today, three years ago, I began my journey to remember who I am,” writes the 35-year-old alongside a photo on which the exact length of her abstinence is written: three years, 36 months, 1,097 days and 26,312 hours.

“Since then, I have experienced moments that can only be described as pure wonder and magic,” she adds. She is “deeply grateful every day.” “To everyone who has supported my journey: I have felt your love and it means everything to me,” Hale continues and appeals: “If you are having difficulties or are on a similar path, keep going. Just keep going. You are not alone and the world needs you.”

The actress shared a photo in which she can be seen looking at a sunset in the distance and a quote from Devi Brown. In the comments section, Hale receives encouragement from numerous people, including some prominent colleagues. Demi Lovato (32) wrote: “So proud of you” and added a red heart emoji.

Lucy Hale has spoken openly about her past with alcohol abuse several times. “When I got sober, it was never my intention to be the poster boy for sobriety. But when I started talking about it, it came out of a need to heal and take my power back,” .

Her journey to sobriety was, and still is, “painful and unpleasant,” but it was still worth every moment. “I still have to make the decision every day, ‘Okay, today I’m going to stay sober and today I’m going to choose myself,’ but it goes deeper than just not drinking.” Her life now feels “so good that I wouldn’t give it up for anything in the world.”
