The town of Saint Patrick of Chañar accompanies the Vaca Muerta activity boom with initiatives in education and technical training for young people and the construction of housing with municipal and provincial funds.
According to the mayor Gonzalo Nunez days ago, the town of Neuquén is one step closer to fulfilling “the dream of owning a home” for the inhabitants of its town, with the reactivation of works to complete 76 homes after three years of paralysis due to lack of national financing.
The units – they explained – whose construction had been suspended due to the lack of funds sent from the Nation, managed to be reactivated thanks to the unwavering efforts of local management and the support of the provincial government. “From the first day we worked tirelessly so that this work did not stop. Our insistence allowed the province to take the necessary momentum to reactivate the homes and respond to the families who were waiting so long for their own home.”said Núñez when making the announcement.

The local Infrastructure Secretary, Emanuel Valenzuelaexplained that the project involved a series of technical and administrative challenges. In the first instance, it was necessary to separate the original agreement between Nation and Neuquénso that the latter could renegotiate a new contract with the construction company.
“The contracting company could have withdrawn, but it continued working. This was key for us to be so close to delivering these houses today”highlighted the municipal secretary. In addition, he emphasized that the resolution approved by the provincial government provides legal and financial security, guaranteeing the completion of the works.
When will the homes be delivered?
According to municipal sources, the estimated time to complete the first 60 homes is two months. “This achievement belongs to everyone: the neighbors, the province and the municipality. It shows that, when there is will and teamwork, solutions come,” added Nuñez.
Of the 76 homes, 60 are in the subdivision of neighborhood 128, with a progress of 85%/90%. The remaining 16, located in a neighboring lot, will be completed through a municipal administration agreement. “Our commitment does not end here; “We will work to complete each of the homes, ensuring that no family is left out of the project.”Nuñez stressed.

In parallel, last year the gas network of the neighborhood 128 lots, a work that was carried out to guarantee basic supply to future neighbors. “It is a fundamental step that improves the quality of life of families and ensures that the homes are ready to live in as soon as they are delivered,” explained the mayor.
Projects that strengthen technical training and Vaca Muerta
In addition to the housing plan, Saint Patrick of Chañar progresses in the consolidation of educational projects that seek to strengthen technical training and promote local development.
With this objective, the town promotes the certification of new technicians in Mechatronics, the development of the Educational Campus and the construction of the EPET building N°26with the aim of responding to the demand for qualified labor in Vaca Muerta.
Weeks ago, about 18 technical students who completed their studies received their certificates. The degree, which was taken in the town, had 100% financing from the municipality and is part of the Instituto Superior Centro de Estudios Integrados (CEI).

Mayor Gonzalo Núñez, together with his municipal cabinet team, accompanied the delivery of certificates for Drilling and Complementation of Wells at the Educational, Technological, Research and Innovation Campus,
“It is important that they can be trained in our town, and thus become qualified labor to join the world of work,” highlighted the community chief. And he added that “for us education is a priority, and that is why we finance this entire degree” and highlighted that “it is very comforting to see that 18 young people from Chañara were able to finish the degree and today are professionals.”
The new mechatronics technicians were trained in areas of control, mechanics, electronics and computing. They are trained to carry out activities as assistants Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, Industrial Engineers, or in industrial maintenanceamong others.
