While recording a TV show at the end of December, Reiner Calmund had to go to the hospital with dizziness. Now he spoke about the dangerous incident for the first time.
Former football manager Reiner Calmund commented on his heart and circulatory problems during filming at the beginning of December. “I’m feeling very well,” the former Bayer Leverkusen manager told “Bild” after he became dizzy while recording an episode of the Vox show “Grill den Henssler” and had to be taken to a Cologne hospital.
But apparently the matter was more serious than it initially seemed: According to the 76-year-old’s description, a stent had to be inserted after the collapse because his throat was 90 percent closed, the “Bild” reported. Calmund: “The doctors said it was really close for me.” After a sclerotherapy to the heart and “an electric shock with the defibrillator to get the heart back into the right rhythm,” he now feels “in great shape” again.
Reiner Calmund: Smartwatch keeps an eye on his heart
His wife Sylvia Calmund takes care of the former football official’s health, as “Bild” wrote. As a Christmas present, she gave me a smartwatch “that reliably shows that my ECG is OK, my oxygen supply is correct, and my heart is beating in the right rhythm.”
“Calli” is sticking to a planned trip to Asia in January, as he said: “My blood pressure is also right, so I was able to prepare for the vacation weeks with peace of mind and am looking forward to sun, sea and lots of relaxation.”
