Before he took office, the sentence for Donald Trump in his hush money trial was announced. He will not receive any punishment.
Donald Trump (78) will be the next President of the United States as a criminal, but he will not receive a punishment. The responsible judge, Juan Merchan, has condemned the US President-elect as an “unconditional discarchge” in a trial involving the concealment of hush money payments to the former porn actress Stormy Daniels (45). The announcement of the sentence had previously been postponed several times.
Sentencing announced a few days before the inauguration
Trump will be sworn in as the next US President on January 20th. The verdict means he remains a criminal. The 78-year-old will not have to serve any prison time. There is also no probation and no fine must be paid. According to US reports, the verdict was expected in this form.
Donald Trump was the 45th President of the United States between 2017 and 2021. In May 2024, he became the first ex-president in US history to be convicted of a crime. Twelve jurors found it proven that the politician and entrepreneur wanted to cover up a hush money payment to Daniels with fake business documents before his first election victory in 2016.
Stormy Daniels also said through her lawyers in May that she was relieved that the case was now over. Her lawyer noted that “no one is above the law.” Trump critics are likely to doubt this after the announcement on January 10, 2025.
