With criticism of Macri, Luis Juez will leave the presidency of the PRO in the Senate and wants to be Milei’s candidate in Córdoba

The Cordoban Luis Judge announced this Sunday that will abandon the presidency of the PRO bloc in the Senate. He argued his decision in the division that was generated in the space during the vote to remove Edgardo Kueider in the upper house. “I felt disempowered”he expressed, in reference to Mauricio Macri. Furthermore, he announced that he will seek to be the candidate for governor of Cordova of Javier Milei.

The senator, true to his direct style, raised his public differences with the head of the party and former president of the Nation, in particular as a result of the position that he pushed within the bloc so that the expulsion of now former legislator and, instead, proceed with a suspension. That position opened a crack that caused three members of the PRO voted in favor of the removal of immunity and four others – guided by Macri- They will position themselves against it.

As a result, the judge said he felt underrated and unauthorized, despite the fact that he had been elected as the president of the bloc. “That vote gave me a lot of headache. It bothers me that they underestimate me. “I didn’t want to be president of the bank, in fact I’m not going to be in the immediate future,” he declared in a recent interview.

“I don’t think it’s useful, I don’t feel comfortable. I don’t like it, I say it with all due respect, but I feel disempowered“, continued the senator. And when asked if it was Macri who disavowed him, he did not hesitate to respond affirmatively: “Yes, I don’t like such things, and those things happen, but there is no self-criticism, so it is very complicated.”

Luis Juez will abandon the presidency of the PRO in the Senate due to differences with Macri

He then announced that in the coming days he will contact the former president to present his resignation from leading the bloc. “It is a topic that I will surely discuss with Mauricio, but I already let him know that I have no interest in continuing. In fact, I raised it the week before Kueider’s expulsion session. Surely The next time I meet with Mauricio I will make the management of the block available“, he expressed to La Nación.

His discomfort with the head of the PRO goes beyond the vote on Kueider. This is how he explained it: “I have made decisions thinking about the whole, I am not a type who speculates. I spent many months working so that the block could meet with the President, and when the President gave me the day and time to meet, they called me and told me that I could not meet.” According to what he said, the person who called him was precisely Macri. “He called me from Spain or Portugal,” to stop the meeting.

On that occasion they had discussed the position to take regarding the case of the former senator detained in Paraguay. “Then came the issue of Kueider. I told him: ‘I don’t know what they are telling you, but here we are going to expel Kueider because it is the first time in the history of Argentine politics that a letter from a federal judge enters the Senate asking for the violation to put him in prison.’ He believed that it had to be suspended because he is not here.. “I didn’t want to spend even half an hour more with that guy in the Senate,” he said.

Regarding the lack of support from a group of PRO senators for the expulsion, he said: “It hurt me a lot that of the five votes that voted for the suspension, four were ours. There are times when you have to let the guy in the trenches make the decision he has to make. It is easy to say ‘vote in such a way’, but in these issues that have to do with values, one has to differentiate oneself. People were telling us that we are all the same. “I’m not the same as Kueider.”

Luis Juez on his relationship with Macri and his desire to be a candidate for governor of Milei

In another passage of the interview, Judge referred to the personality of the former president of the Nation. “Mauricio has often found my particular way of being unfriendly. I’m not a guy who talks around, I’m extremely sincere, but Mauricio’s personality often forces you not to be extremely sincere if you want to have a good relationship.. He’s one of those guys who always has his guard up. And I’m not like that, I don’t speculate,” he emphasized.

He also alluded to his relationship with the president Javier Milei. “He’s a guy with whom I can talk about anything, from family to in-depth political analysiswith which I can say what I think because he’s not going to get angry because of what I say. Like a friend, you accept him with all his virtues and his defects,” he said.

Along these lines, he made it clear that he will not abandon the PRO, although he announced that he expressed to Milei his desire to be his candidate for governor in 2027. “I am not a speculator. Some guys spread a rumor that I wanted to be the new provisional president of the Senate, third in line, that is not the case. I am not asking for anything and I told the President: ‘Look Javier, in three years, if God gives me health and I am in the consideration of the neighbors of my province, I am going to try to be governor and I would love to be your governor.“, hill.
