The Vehicle Technical Verification (VTV) it’s a mandatory requirement for vehicle owners. This periodic control aims to guarantee that the vehicles that circulate on the streets and routes comply with the minimum safety and polluting gas emission standards.

Failure to carry out the VTV within the established period may lead to fines and the inability to circulate legally. At the time of carrying it out, you must present your DNI, the vehicle’s green card, proof of current insurance and, in some cases, the previous verification.

Who must process the VTV

All vehicles must carry out the VTV on a mandatory basis, even though some groups are exempt from paying it and it must be done from time to time:

  • Vehicles: from 24 months after initial registration, according to the last digit of your domain name.
  • Motorcycle vehicles: from 12 months after initial registration, according to the last digit of your domain.
  • Then, the frequency of the verification will be as appropriate according to the category of the vehicle.

VTV amount in the province of Buenos Aires in 2025

In the Province of Buenos Aires, the new rate for light vehicles increased from $44,175.21 to $53,819.26. This amount will be valid until January 31, 2025.

  • Motorcycles: $21,527.47.
  • Vehicles up to 2,500 kilos: $53,819.26.
  • Vehicles weighing more than 2,500 kilos: $96,873.58.
  • Trailers and trailers up to 2,500 kilos: $32,291.19.
  • Trailers and trailers weighing more than 2,500 kilos: $48,436.79.

The next increase has already been confirmed for February 1, 2025, the cost for cars will exceed $60,000, which will represent a 100% increase within a period of six months.

Who is exempt from paying the VTV

The groups exempt from paying the VTV are the following:

  • Retirees with two minimum incomes
  • People with disabilities who can present the CUD
  • Service vehicles such as ambulances
