Scammers are posing as Kim Kardashian and calling for donations to help victims of the California wildfires.
Entrepreneur and reality star Kim Kardashian (44) warns against apparently unscrupulous fraudsters who are taking advantage of her well-known name and the forest fires in California. Unidentified people have sent at least one type of email referencing a supposed fundraiser for victims of the fires in and around Los Angeles.
Kim Kardashian: “Beware of scammers!”
Kardashian shares with her more than 358 million followers an excerpt of the email in question, which translates as “Kim Kardashian Campaign for Concerned People in LA” and contains several errors. The scammers directly mention that the email supposedly comes from the entrepreneur and thank the recipient for supporting them as a fan.
The excerpt gives the impression that Kardashian is directly asking her followers to help. “You know that I can’t do it alone, that’s why I have you all as fans,” it says at this point. You should let the senders know whether you would like to support the fundraising campaign, which is described as a “great movement”.
For her part, Kim Kardashian expressly warns: “Beware of scammers!” She makes it clear that the relevant emails are not real. The 44-year-old commented on the perfidious scam with “How terrible.” Another screenshot shows an email address set up on the Gmail service. Kardashian writes that this address does not belong to her.
