One day after the release of his new album “Hurry Up Tomorrow”, Canadian singer The Weeknd wanted to perform in Los Angeles. The fires in Los Angeles now forced him to cancel.
Canadian pop singer The Weeknd has canceled a concert and postponed the release of his new album due to the devastating fires in Los Angeles. “Out of respect and concern for the people of Los Angeles County,” said a statement on the 34-year-old’s Instagram profile and homepage.
The Weeknd – real name Abel Tesfaye – was scheduled to perform at the Rose Bowl Stadium on January 25th. The new album “Hurry Up Tomorrow” is now scheduled to be released on January 31st, instead of January 24th as originally planned. “This city has always been a deep source of inspiration for me, and my thoughts are with everyone affected by this difficult time.”
The authorities in Southern California continue to go on the offensive against the fires with a large contingent of helpers. The US Weather Service predicted stronger winds again through Wednesday and warned of “extreme” fire danger. The number of confirmed deaths from the major fires in the Los Angeles area is currently 24.
