Timothée Chalamet showed up to the premiere of his new film on a rented electric bike – and had to dig deep into his pockets for it.

Timothée Chalamet (29) caused a stir with his appearance at the “A Complete Unknown” premiere in London. The actor, who portrays music legend Bob Dylan (83) in the biopic, rode across the red carpet on January 14th on a rental electric bike. He now commented on the unusual idea on the French talk show “Quotidien”.

According to Chalamet, he decided on a bicycle instead of a car in order to reach the premiere on time. Environmental aspects or the criticism of oversized limousines played a minor role – he was simply stuck in a traffic jam with his vehicle. “It was terrible because it was actually a kind of advertising,” summed up the 29-year-old.

Fines for illegal parking

After his action, Chalamet even had to dig into his pocket, he reported on the talk show. He had to pay a fine of 65 pounds, or around 77 euros, for his appearance. The reason for this was that he did not park the rented bike properly in a designated parking zone at the premiere.

The rental bike was an eye-catching bright green version from Lime. Electric bikes and scooters from this provider are available for quick rental in many large cities. Fans therefore suspected that the sensational appearance was a PR campaign.

However, a spokesperson for Lime made it clear that it was neither a paid nor an unpaid deal with the “Wonka” star. They were very happy about the unexpected bicycle moment in the spotlight, but would also have liked to provide Chalamet with a cleaner bicycle.
